Katie Fillipon, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, is the vice president of Surgical and Procedural Services for Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.
Fillipon works in close partnership with physician, nursing and operational leaders at each hospital to support the provision of collaborative, safe and high-quality care. She oversees numerous areas within peri-operative services, including clinical operations, central processing and surgical supply, performance improvement and outcomes, business operations and capital planning, and community operations.
Fillipon was appointed to this role in 2025 after serving for five years as deputy chief nursing officer and vice president of nursing and patient care services at BWH. As deputy CNO, she led daily operations for the department of nursing, working in close partnership with the chief medical officer, administrators, medical directors, clinicians and staff to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care and to improve patient access and hospital capacity. Fillipon also served as tri-chair of the hospital’s Inpatient Leadership Group during this time.
Fillipon has worked at the Brigham for her entire career, beginning as a student and then as a clinical nurse in oncology. She worked as a nursing director and nurse educator for oncology before becoming the division’s associate chief nurse. Her leadership was essential to the successful opening of two new oncology units, as well as the development of the CAR T-cell therapy program.
She also previously served as associate chief nursing officer for the hospital’s medicine units.
She completed her doctorate, master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
