Sleep and Circadian Disorders Clinical Research

Complementary to its extensive portfolio of research focused on understanding basic mechanisms and explanatory factors underlying sleep and circadian disorders, the division conducts clinical trials aimed primarily at diagnostic methodologies and treatment for sleep disorders. Examples of protocols include examining the impact of bariatric surgery on obstructive sleep apnea and determining the impact of positive airway pressure therapy on mitigating the risk of cardiovascular disease. The division also has participated in clinical trials of new medications or treatments for insomnia and restless legs syndrome.
