Maternal-fetal medicine specialists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital combine expertise and compassion to help our patients achieve the best possible outcomes for themselves and their families. Our comprehensive high-risk pregnancy services include:

• Specialized care for complications that develop during pregnancy, such as twin or triplet pregnancy, placental conditions like placenta accreta, increased risk of preterm birth or stillbirth.
• Integrated, multidisciplinary care for women with medical conditions in pregnancy.
• State-of-the-art genetic screening, diagnosis, and fetal therapy to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment for infants before birth.
• High-risk outpatient and inpatient consultation.
• Collaborations with community-based obstetricians to provide specialized pregnancy care close to home.
• Comprehensive newborn care, including a well baby nursery, Level III newborn intensive care unit, and close relationship with Children’s Hospital Boston.

High Risk Pregnancy Care

Each mother has a team of providers led by her maternal-fetal medicine specialist. Depending on an individual’s needs, the team may include anesthesiologists, other physician specialists, nurses, genetic counselors and social workers. We work closely with our ultrasonographers, nutritionists, medical care, and practice assistants. Your team will coordinate and manage your care before, during, and after your pregnancy. After the baby’s birth, families benefit from our team of postpartum nurses, lactation consultants, parent educators, and pediatricians.
